Dave is an accomplished entrepreneur who has spent his entire career in life science start-ups.

Dave was responsible for designing and starting the Entrepreneur in Residence program at Caltech, and was the first EIR. As EIR, Dave was responsible for facilitating the commercialization of technologies developed at Caltech and JPL through the creation of student, staff, and faculty driven start-ups. As EIR, Dave launched an academic collaboration between UCLA and Caltech that became 1200 Pharma. As CEO of 1200 Pharma, Dave spun the project out of Caltech and UCLA as the first “partnership licensing agreement” for either University allowing their continued involvement in the ongoing work of the company.

Prior to his time as EIR at Caltech, Dave was CEO of Arges Imaging, which he successfully led from initial team creation to acquisition by the market leader. Dave stayed on for several years as the General Manager of the Arges unit post-acquisition. Dave also served as founder and Head of Operations for Wind Hill Medical and was a Principal in the Kairos Technology Incubator inside Frazier Healthcare Ventures. His career has focused on life science start-ups (medical devices, drug-device combinations, and therapeutics). Over his career, Dave has been operationally involved in 7 separate companies, and has held roles at every level (including Chairman of the Board, CEO, COO, director level, and entry level). Dave has a MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford.
