Previously, Steve was a Distinguished Research Fellow and Senior Director of Organic Chemistry in the GPRD Process R&D organization at AbbVie. During his twenty-nine-year career at AbbVie/Abbott, he worked in both process chemistry and medicinal chemistry and has extensive experience across all phases of drug discovery and development.

Steve has extensive experience across all aspects of drug discovery and development with particular expertise in Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) and the development of synthetic chemistry to enable preparation of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient and Drug Product formulation for preclinical and clinical use. He is an author on more than 30 scientific publications and inventor on 22 issued U.S. patents.

Steve did his post-doctoral at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he worked with Professor J. R. Falck. He earned a doctorate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a BS in chemistry from the University of Texas-Austin.
